Wild Horse Protection Policies and the BLM

The Bureau of Land Management under the Burns amendment has recently removed the protection of wild horses over the age of 10. They also have seemed to ignore petitioned requests from various concerned groups nationwide to develop regulations regarding how these animals would be sold. Recently a buyer representing himself as a minister purchased six wild horses for a youth group. Within two days the horses were sent to a slaughtering plant in Illinois. At this point we can help by requesting regulation of these sales by contacting these representatives.
